In The Life Of...

Style

Your diary's design is delicious. The image and layout are simple enough, but thought-provoking and appropriate. Like your writing, bright, hard edges are blended with velvety softness and unexpected little twists and curls. Unfortunately, it may be a little difficult to navigate for some, but readers probably follow you closely and therefore are used to the unconventional links. Your notes link is broken; you have no "extras" on your page, but then, the whole idea here is tranquillity, isn't it? You're pulling it off beautifully.

Substance

Sort of difficult to place a finger on the pulse of your diary. You disappear for weeks at times; you are very soft-spoken, very polite, but then the occasional passionate outcry appears (like here and here ). You introduce poetry from time to time, my favorites being this and this; sometimes it is morose, and sometimes just plain spectacular. Somehow, with all this off-again, on-again, hot and cold writing, you manage to reveal so much about yourself that it is inspiring. I feel as if you've dropped your journal on the street, and I've been lucky enough to pick it up.

Suggestions

Go ahead and credit yourself for the design, since it's so lovely. Consider making the entry box a smidgeon longer on the page, and bring the archives/last 5 nearer the top of the page, if you can do this without compromising the wide-open space you've got going now. Fix that notes link. And please, talk to us more often! Oh, and bring back the fortune cookies! : )

B++

You're almost to that A... just keep writing.
